MCFADDEN, Marlene (nee Bastien)
Marlene was born in Windsor, Ontario on October 5, 1935 and passed away in Simcoe, Ontario on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Jack (John McFadden) (2010) for over 50 years. Marlene is survived by her children Wendy McFadden-Smith (Brian), Kenneth McFadden (Eva) and Karen Fess (Randy). Loving grandma of Donavan (Victoria) and Lucas McFadden, Rachael and Sarah Smith, and Emily, Joshua and Jedd Fess. Recently, Marlene celebrated the birth of her first great-grandchild Everett John McFadden. Predeceased by her parents, Freeman and Laura Bastien. Dearest sister of the late Shirley VanLare, the late Norma Graveline, the late Garfield Bastien, Don Bastien (Bernice Goudreau), the late Ray Bastien, late Larry Bastien (Sharon), Jackie Tullo (Carlo) and Gil Bastien (Suzanne Quenneville). Marlene will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Marlene attended Patterson Collegiate in the secretarial program. She worked in many local banks for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and baking butter tarts for everyone. She was a devoted pet owner to her beagle (Benji) and enjoyed walking him and visiting with neighbors. Marlene and Jack spent many years traveling from coast to coast in their trusty motor home. The family of Marlene McFadden wishes to thank the staff of Anson Place in Hagersville, as well as the staff at Norfolk General Hospital for their care and compassion. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 87 Maidstone Avenue East, Essex (519-776-4233) on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Marlene's life will be held from the funeral home on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. Rev. Liz Chaplin officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario.
